DryRun Calls

Questions and answers

What the product does, how it scores you, what it keeps, and what we are building next.

Getting started

What is DryRun Calls?

A place to practise cold calls without burning a real prospect. You get a random scenario - a product, a buyer and a mood - then a live three-minute phone call against an AI playing that buyer. When you hang up, the call is scored out of 100 and you get specific notes on what to fix.

Do I need to sign up to try it?

No. Your first call need no account, no email and no card. Add an email only when you want to keep going, and that unlocks the rest of a 6-call free allowance.

How is this different from reading a script or a sales book?

You have to talk. Under time pressure, to someone who interrupts, in a situation you did not choose. Reading about objection handling and handling an objection out loud with three minutes on the clock are different skills, and only one of them is the job.

Do I need a headset or any setup?

A browser and a microphone. It works on a laptop or a phone. Use headphones if you can, so the prospect's voice does not feed back into your microphone.

The call

What actually happens on a call?

The phone rings and the prospect answers, usually mid-something and usually not pleased to hear from you. You have three minutes. They interrupt, they object, and they hang up if you waste their time. There is no script and no single right answer.

Can I choose the scenario?

Not today, and the randomness is deliberate: you practise thinking rather than rehearsing one pitch you have already mastered. Choosing your own difficulty is the sales equivalent of picking the lightest weights in the gym. Practising a specific real call is something we are working on - see what's coming, below.

What if the prospect says something odd, or the call breaks?

Tell us. There is a feedback link at the bottom of every page, and a call that went wrong is the single most useful thing you can send. Mention roughly when it happened and we can look at the actual call.

Scoring

How does the scoring work?

After you hang up, the full transcript is graded across eight weighted skills and totalled out of 100. Each skill comes with the reasoning behind its score, so you can disagree with it, which is more useful than a number on its own.

What are the eight skills?

In weight order: opener & pattern interrupt (12), purpose & relevance (12), discovery (16), objection handling (18), value framing (12), talk/listen balance (10), control & next step (12), and composure & tone (8). Objection handling and discovery carry the most because they are where real calls are won and lost.

Is the score fair?

It is consistent, which matters more. The same rubric grades every call, and the total is the sum of the eight parts, so the number always matches the breakdown underneath it. It is a practice score, not a verdict on you.

Why did I score badly on a call that felt good?

Usually talk/listen balance or control. A call that feels good to the rep is often one where the rep talked a lot and the buyer agreed politely to get off the phone. Read the per-skill reasons rather than the total.

Privacy

Is my call recorded?

No. Your audio goes straight from your browser to the speech model and is discarded as it goes. We never receive it and cannot play a call back. The text transcript is kept so the call can be scored and re-read.

Who sees my score?

Only you, unless you choose to compete. Leaderboards are opt-in, and turning competing off removes your past entries as well as future ones. Private play is scored and coached identically, it is just invisible to everyone else. Your transcript is never shown to another user.

Can I get my data deleted?

Yes. Email support@dryruncalls.com and we will remove the calls, transcripts, scores and the account itself. It is not a flag, the rows go.

The free tier

How many free calls do I get?

1 without an account, and 6 in total once you add an email - that first call counts toward the total. The free tier is a fixed allowance rather than a trial with a clock on it. There is no deadline and nothing expires.

Can I get more free calls?

Invite someone. Every person who signs up from your link adds 3 calls to your account, up to a cap shown on your Arena page.

What happens when I run out?

Nothing disappears. Your scores, badges, streak and leaderboard position stay exactly as they are, you just cannot start a new call. A paid tier is coming for people who want to practise more often.

What's coming

DryRun Calls is early, and what gets built next depends on what people ask for. These are the directions we are weighing. None of them exists yet and there is nothing to buy today - the button records that you want it, so we build the one people actually want.

More calls

A paid tier for practising as often as you like, with a stated allowance rather than a vague promise.

Track how you improve

Your eight skills plotted over weeks, so you can see whether the thing you have been working on is actually moving.

Rehearse a real call

Tell us who you are calling and what you sell, then practise that specific call before you make it.

Practise with my team

Private boards and shared challenges for a sales team, with a manager's view of who is improving.

Something we did not answer?

Ask us anything, tell us what is broken, or say what you wish it did. We read all of it.

Easier to just try it

Three minutes, one AI prospect, one score. No sign-up for your first call.
